Super Pal Universe is a group of real kids learning the ups and downs of being a real band, from their first gig together at Austin City Limits to working towards making a recording. The band and Clif Bar jam together the day after Thanksgiving! On Friday, November 23rd, the band took the stage in front of Shady Grove for the annual balloon fill event for the Chuys parade! Thanks to the great folks at Shady Grove! SPU proves to be hardcore in the wet and freezing weather! Super Pal Universe rides the GSD&M float at the Chuys Parade! Sara and the gang bundled up and rode down Congress Avenue with a smile on their face and a song in their heart, Saturday, November 24th for the Chuys Parade! Was it wet? Sure! Was it cold? Ya betcha! But the Super Pals held their own! All for a good cause! Change for Change and Video contest winners announced soon! Gala to showcase community leaders Community support and outreach is a core mission of the Super Pal Universe. To support this, a non-profit offshoot of the program called the "Change4Change Fundation" (C4C) has been established and will provide quarterly grants to community organizations that encourage and promote creativity, social responsibility and the arts. The grant application cycle is closed and the winners will be announced at the Gala next week!

I suggested a series of monthly concerts around the state of Texas, starting in Austin and ending in Austin, going to 10 cities along the way. I would perform at all 12 events, but we would want to include other musicians and speakers from each city we visit. Amazingly, with hard work, the conversation became a reality this fall. My thought was that this isn't a "you must join the anti-death penalty movement" so much as it would open and start the dialogue. Segments at each concert will be filmed to edit together as a one hour piece, shown at the final concert. These segments will include dialogue from folks attending the concerts talking about how they stand on the death penalty. I think it is important to start talking about the death penalty and the implications/repercussions of it all. The event will be called "Music For Life: Sharing Conversations on the Death Penalty."
