NBC will be airing a new Thursday series called FEAR ITSELF, which is a bunch of directors from slasher films getting airtime (and funding) to show
horribly graphic and highly inappropriate visual violence on public television. I am completely appalled and plan to start a letter campaign to stop it.
However, on the other end of the spectrum is Super Pal Universe, 5 kids and one woman (me) dedicated to bringing fun, music, camaraderie, intelligence
and the social action of teens…so kids watching can make a difference by learning about their community, getting involved in their community, and creating
change in their community: act, react and interact!
The way I see it, if I had the funding, Super Pal Universe would be bringing positive options and thought filled, educational and entertaining tv/webisodes to
children through our show rather than more absolutely derivative and negative dreck.
Big thumbs down to NBC on their cashing in on making a profit instead of setting the standard for excellence. I guess that is up to me and Super Pal Universe
(and those out in the world who continue to try and make the world incredible, even without huge budgets or backing.) We will not cave in.

says:Yes, Yes, Yes! Keep striving to present and promote the positive side and not the dark, negative side of the world. The entertainment business keeps saying “that’s what the viewers want.” Well, that doesn’t mean that’s what should continue to be produced. We have to be able to have self control and by putting out the violence and vulgarity we’re training our kids to accept that as being “normal”. Instead, why can’t we focus on thinking about whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable? If anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.

says:AMEN! to you Sara and your Super Pals…
Just keep doing what you are doing.
All of you are making a difference!
It’s all about negative news…they think that is what we want.
Speak out everyone! We don’t!
Maybe, someone with half a brain will realize that someday!
Double thumbs down!
love,

says:I agree, although it’s not just NBC. I used to like the old mystery and detective shows. (I know that makes me sound really old, even though I’m not!) But now that genre has been taken over with shows that simply try to create the most sick and depraved character they can get away with. Not much mystery to it, just graphic violence and torture. And now with this new show, they don’t even have to pay writers to create the gore!

says:Have to tell you my sons and I are stuck on your music. From breakfast time to dinner, you are going, girl! My son is now inserting his own lines into ” I Like My Boots.” (ie, I like my trucks, I like my big big trucks…and so on. )
Take it easy. Rock out forever!
